"Oh Sherrie" by Steve Perry -- the absolute Greatest Rock Song of the 1980s

February 25, 2021

Steve Perry is best known as the lead singer of one of the most famous and recognizable rock bands of all time -- Journey.  Perry is such an amazing singer that he was nicknamed "the voice" by Jon Bon Jovi, but many people may not know that he also has hi successful solo career.  The last post featured "Mercades Boy" which is considered by some to be one of the best songs of the 1980s.  Regardless of whether this opinion is actually true or not, in my opinion, the absolute best song of the entire 1980s hands down is "Oh Sherrie" by Steve Perry, which is featured here and posted below.

What's interesting, is given all the time Steve Perry spent as the lead singer of Journey, and given the sheer volume of hit songs they created, many of which are still immediately recognizable today, one would think that the best song of the 1980s would come directly from that band, and not its lead singer.  In fact, "Oh Sherrie" is usually thought to be a Journey song -- but it technically isn't, it's a song from the solo career of their lead singer.

In any case, here's "Oh Sherrie" by Steve Perry, in my opinion, the absolute best song of the 1980s.
